The Practice and Process Reading (PPR) Group is an initiative by practice and process emerging scholars in the field with the aim to:

  • Develop awareness of practice and process research

  • Provide guidance in reading and understanding that research

  • Develop a supportive research community around these goals

The PPR Group arose out of the Warwick Summer School on Practice and Process Studies 2020. During a brainstorming session led by Dr. Katharina Dittrich and Dr. Mira Slavova, several of the participants were enthused by both a reading group and a podcast centered around practice and process research. We decided to combine both, and to invite the author`s of relevant texts to the sessions, in order to gain a deeper understanding of these articles, and also to better comprehend the research and writing process behind them. Our first session started 4 months later, and we are delighted at the enthusiasm and support many researchers from the community have shown for the project.

On the last Friday of each month (approximately), we delve into one article during a live Zoom session, together with the author(s) and the Reading Group Community.

Next to discussing the article, we strive to go “beyond the print”, fetching the author’s journey and connecting perceptions to the greater domain of practice and process research.

The format consists of an interview (approx. 30 minutes) with the author(s) about their article, which is recorded and made available as a podcast, followed by an off-the-record Q&A with the group members, with a duration of 30-45 minutes.
